about

I first got excited about reading the bible when I was a teenager listening to a sermon preached by Dr Howard Peskett, then dean of Discipleship Training Centre. The topic was “Lessons from an Ox Cart”, on Matthew 11:28-30. That was almost 50 years ago.

After my graduation, I joined The Fellowship of Evangelical Students as a student worker and was there for 10 years, helping students grow in their walk with God. I have been doing this with different groups of people ever since, especially in bible study.

Now in these later years of my life these two threads in my life have become deep roots: the desire to help people in their faith and to help them see the wealth of wisdom in Scripture. I am deeply convinced that faith must feed on the Word constantly and that Word must be interesting and appetizing to the soul.

I have decided to write these devotional guides and make them available on this site. The discipline of reading and reflecting on Word and Life is, to my mind, a fading discipline in a media dominated world. But our needs remain the same, and I believe we are built to commune with God, just as they did in the Garden so long ago.

If you have decided to build your inner life with God, I pray these devotional guides will help you on your way.

If you are considering using the devotions, have a look at the “Guide Page” for some helpful hints. And do drop a comment as feedback or encouragement.
